NETWORKED ECOLOGIES

Network [ˈnetˌwərk]

  • An arrangement of intersecting horizontal and vertical lines

  • A group or system of interconnected people or things

Ecology [ēˈkäləjē]

  • The branch of biology that deals with the relations of organisms to one another and to their physical surroundings

  • The political movement that seeks to protect the environment, especially from pollution

“Networked Ecologies” pays homage to the linkages between our digital and physical realms and the influence each possesses over the other.  Comprised of alternating strands, the shifting colors speak to the changing states within each system, while their woven form speaks to their interdependence.  The arrangement of the strands offers viewers a constantly changing perspective, shedding light on the complex interrelationship between the digital and physical realms.  Sometimes harmonious, sometimes chaotic, the installation challenges viewers to explore their perception and relationship with each.
